  • Discover the fairytale town of Ålesund.

  • Learn more about the area’s fascinating history.

  • See the ornate Art Nouveau buildings up close.

  • Interact with a local guide as you meander through the streets.

Our walking tour begins at the pier, where your guide will lead you through the enchanting streets of Ålesund. Dating back to the Viking Age, the town is renowned throughout Norway and beyond for its distinctive architecture. After a devastating fire in 1904 reduced much of the town to ashes, Ålesund was rebuilt in the popular architectural style of the time: Art Nouveau. As you stroll through the town, your guide will highlight Art Nouveau features on buildings and other points of interest, including the picturesque fishing harbour of Brosundet and Apotekertorget Square. Here, you’ll find the monument of a fisher boy, a well-known local landmark. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into Ålesund’s history, culture, and architectural heritage.
