Flagship of our Signature voyages, MS Trollfjord takes its name from a small but spectacular fjord in the Vesterålen archipelago.
Our Limited Collection cruises are exclusive Signature sailings offered only at select times of the year, focusing on a specific theme, season or region. Each voyage is specially curated with unique itineraries and extended stops.
This cruise sails deeper into the fjords than most others, reaching their hidden inner ends. You’ll explore four of Norway’s great fjords – Sognefjord, Hardangerfjord, Lysefjord and Nordfjord – with extended time ashore in beautiful small communities.
In spring, expect blossoming apple orchards and snow-dusted peaks; in fall, golden forests and crisp, clear air. Weather can change quickly in fjord country, so layered clothing and waterproofs are definitely recommended.
The Inner Fjords Explorer visits two of Norway’s UNESCO World Heritage sites: Bryggen Wharf in Bergen, once a center of Hanseatic trade, and the Urnes Stave Church near Skjolden, the oldest of its kind in Norway. Both offer fascinating glimpses into Norway’s history, local craftsmanship and coastal heritage.
Bring a small daypack for shore visits, a reusable water bottle, binoculars for spotting wildlife and waterfalls, and a camera to capture the shifting light. Some travelers also enjoy keeping a travel journal – the fjords have a way of inspiring reflection – but you can always purchase one in the onboard shop if you forget.

Norwegian and English are the official onboard languages. The Expedition Team, reception staff, and crew also often speak German as well.
Most of our excursions can also be conducted in two or three languages. Please contact the Expedition Team on board for further information.
During your voyage, our Expedition Team, made up of many local Norwegians, provides lectures and on-deck guiding while sharing insights about the culture along the route.
Highlights include a photography program to help you capture coastal scenery and the Northern Lights, as well as informal evening gatherings with the team. Topics vary by day, from maritime history and Viking legends to geology, fjords and life in small coastal communities.
MS Trollfjord also has a sauna and a fitness room for all guests to use.
