When shipping pioneer Richard With founded The Original Coastal Express back in 1893, little did he know that it would forever change the future of the Norwegian coast.

We are generations of sailors, cooks, receptionists, waitresses all working to bind the country together. For over 130 years, our ships have been a lifeline to coastal communities of all sizes and a way of life for the people who reside here.

How a Captain’s love for our maritime heritage led to a beautiful museum in Stokmarknes, dedicated to The Coastal Express.

Reflecting our love of food and our home, each of our onboard restaurants is named after an aspect of the Norwegian coast. Together, they offer our guests an exciting exploration of our homeland’s cuisine.

Our Norway’s Coastal Kitchen trades with 50 farms, fisheries, bakeries, butchers, cheesemakers, distilleries, and ice-cream innovators. Look forward to trying their produce first hand during your voyage, savouring the many flavors of the Norwegian coast.

Astrid Nässlander and Halvar Ellingsen are two top-tier Head Chefs from the Norwegian coast, bringing their specialist knowledge of local ingredients and their own culinary flair to our menus.

Aalan Farm is one of the few goat farms in Nordland county, in the Arctic. Here, owners Tove and Knut Åland have developed a thriving eco-farm that celebrates artisanal produce.

Together with a consortium of 12 maritime partners and research institute SINTEF, we are proud to present concept designs of our first ship with zero-emission operations that we hope will sail on the Norwegian coast in 2030.  

By 2025, in one of the largest environmental ship upgrades in Europe and in our history, we will have transformed all our ships with major upgrades.
