When shipping pioneer Richard With founded The Original Coastal Express back in 1893, little did he know that it would forever change the future of the Norwegian coast.

In recognition of how our voyages are authentically Norwegian, we have been awarded the official Made in Norway certification from the Norwegian government.

Sustainability is our goal

Hurtigruten commits to eco-upgrades by 2024, with 7 ships leading in CO2 reduction by 25% and NOx by 80%. Additionally, 3 vessels transition to hybrid power, ensuring the conservation of Norway's coastal environment and support for local livelihoods.

An energy-efficient ship

Together with a consortium of 12 maritime partners and research institute SINTEF, we are proud to present concept designs of our first ship with zero-emission operations that we hope will sail on the Norwegian coast in 2030.

Environmental Upgrades

By 2025, in one of the largest environmental ship upgrades in Europe and in our history, we will have transformed all our ships with major upgrades.
