Our cabins and suites: your connection to the coast
Each cabin and suite on our ships is designed with Scandinavian style and comfort in mind, creating a peaceful space to call your own as the coast drifts by.

Sailing with us is all about feeling warm, calm and connected to the coast. In your Hurtigruten cabin or suite, you’ll experience the understated premium feeling Scandinavia is famous for.
Our comfortable small ships have soul – a warmth and intimacy that makes every voyage feel deeply personal. That unique sense of Norwegian coziness – or koselig – fills our cabins and suites. Natural materials, comforting colours and soft lighting create a homely ambience.
Think of your cabin or suite as your home from home. This is your space to sleep deeply, sit quietly and reflect peacefully on your journey so far.

For full details on what’s available on your ship, such as cabin and suite categories and location, check the deck plan. You can find out more specific details about your cabin using the cabin comparison tool on your ship’s web page and when booking online.
Expedition Suite
Our most premium rooms, Expedition Suites are designed for those who value space, beautiful decór and a few extra privileges.

Located on the upper decks, they offer generous layouts, large windows and – on some ships – private balconies. Depending on your ship, you can choose from Grand Suites, Owner’s Suites, Suites or Mini Suites. Most have a separate seating area.
When you book a suite, you’ll enjoy priority check-in, a welcome gift with sparkling wine, and a Norwegian clothing package, with even more included on Signature voyages.

Arctic Superior
Arctic Superior cabins offer a step up in comfort and style from our Polar cabins.

These upgraded outside cabins are typically located on the middle or upper decks, giving you better views and quieter surroundings. With more space than standard cabins, they’re ideal for travelers who value a calmer, more comfortable onboard experience.
Most feature large windows or portholes, along with thoughtful extras like tea and coffee. Whether you’re sailing for a few days or two weeks, an Arctic Superior cabin gives you room to relax and settle in.
What's included in an Arctic Superior cabin:
100 - 235 ft² (10 – 22 m²)
Window or large porthole (most with sea views)
Double or twin beds
Chair
Tea- and coffee-making facilities
Polar Outside
Polar Outside cabins are a classic choice for guests who want natural light and a view without extra frills.

Found on various decks, they come with either a window or a small porthole. Some cabins face directly onto the walking deck or may have partially restricted views, but all offer a bright, open feel that connects you to the passing coast.
With practical layouts, including some with interconnecting doors or space for a crib, they suit couples, friends or families looking for comfort and value. A solid option if you want to see the scenery without stepping up to a higher category.
What's included in a Polar Outside cabin:
85 – 140 ft² (8 – 13 m²)
Window or small porthole (view may vary)
Twin, double or triple layouts; some with upper berth
Chair
Polar Inside
Polar Inside cabins are our most affordable option – smart, simple and great value.

These window-free cabins are ideal if you plan to spend more time exploring the ship or coast than in your room. Compact and cozy, they offer a quiet, private space to rest between ports. Most cabins include twin or bunk beds, with some layouts featuring a bed that converts into a sofa.
If you're after a no-frills base with all the essentials, Polar Inside is a solid choice –especially for shorter voyages or budget-conscious travelers.
What's included in a Polar Inside cabin:
85 – 130 ft² (8 – 12 m²)
Twin, single or triple layouts; some with upper berth
Chair
The suite experience
Our ships offer a range of suites, each designed to bring more comfort, more space and a more considered experience to your journey.
Suites vary by ship and voyage type. Signature and Original sailings include different service levels, amenities and dining options.
If you're considering a suite, this is the best place to compare your options.

Which cabin should I pick on Hurtigruten?
Your cabin isn’t just where you sleep. It’s your quiet space, your own corner to reflect on your adventure, and your starting point when you want to get outside quickly to see something remarkable.
Because we sail with smaller ships, you’re always close to the coast – and never far from the action. A carefully chosen cabin can be the difference between watching the Northern Lights from your bed or reaching the deck soon after the alert sounds to watch them with others.
Whether you want space, sea views or somewhere central, your cabin choice shapes how you experience the journey.
All cabins are designed for comfort and rest, but depending on how you like to travel, some may suit you better than others.

For the quietest stay
All ships make some noise as they sail and dock – it’s part of the rhythm of life on the Norwegian coast.
If you’re a light sleeper or simply value calm, choose a cabin on the upper or middle decks, away from working areas. These cabins tend to be quieter and are often close to lounges and panoramic views.
If you're prone to seasickness
Hurtigruten ships are stable and purpose-built for Norway’s coastal waters. Still, if you’re sensitive to movement, location matters. The most stable part of the ship is on a lower deck, near the center.
Avoid cabins at the very front or back, where motion is felt more clearly, especially in open waters or winter conditions.
For the best views
If scenery is your priority, choose a cabin or suite with a window. All Arctic Superior cabins and Expedition Suites have generous windows, and some suites include a private balcony. Polar Outside cabins also have windows – though some face the walking deck.
Wherever you stay on our small ships, you’re always just steps from open decks and fresh air.
For a budget-friendly stay
Polar Inside cabins offer the best value for travelers who prioritize experiences over extras. With no windows, they’re ideal if you prefer total darkness for sleeping – especially during the summer months when the Midnight Sun glows for 24 hours.
These cozy, compact cabins have everything you need for rest and privacy, and suit those who spend most of their time out on deck or on shore.
For families
Several cabins are suitable for families, with layouts that sleep three or four using pull-down or sofa beds. Some ships also offer connecting cabins, giving families extra space while keeping everyone close.
If you need more room or want to upgrade, many of our suites also accommodate multiple guests comfortably.
