Discover how ice, water and time shaped the magnificent landscapes of the inner-Sognefjord region on a scenic bus tour. Stop at Breheimsenteret visitor centre to see Nigardsbreen glacier and learn about Norway’s glaciers, then continue through dramatic scenery towards Sognefjellet mountain, pausing for photographs along the way.
Drive dramatic fjord, valley and mountain scenery, as your guide shares stories of local life.
See the blue-ice tongue of Nigardsbreen glacier from the striking Breheimsenteret visitor centre.
Discover how glaciers are formed, shape the landscape and continue to affect communities today.
From Skjolden, drive along Lustrafjord and through lush Jostedalen valley to Breheimsenteret, a visitor centre for Jostedalsbreen and Breheimen national parks.
Built to look like a glacier split by a crevasse, Breheimsenteret is a fitting place to learn about glacier formation, climate and the powerful forces that have shaped this dramatic corner of Norway. Through exhibitions, film and free time to explore, you’ll discover how ice has carved the valleys, fed the rivers and influenced the communities living here. From the centre, you can also see the blue-ice tongue of Nigardsbreen glacier, slowly grinding down the valley from Jostedalsbreen, mainland Europe’s largest glacier.
Now you have a deeper understanding of glacial power, it’s time to witness its impact on the panoramic scenery on the next leg of your journey. As you drive through one of Norway’s most spectacular mountain regions towards Sognefjellet – home to Northern Europe’s highest mountain pass – your guide shares stories about the local communities, peaks and glaciers that have shaped this landscape over the millennia.
Depending on conditions, there will be several photography stops. Admire Feigumfossen waterfall cascading down the mountainside across Lustrafjord or hear the poignant stories behind the lines etched in the rock to commemorate catastrophic flood levels at Flaummerket.
