Swap the view from the ship for the view from far above on this guided hike to Sengjaberget Viewpoint. A moderately steep trail rises through woodland to open terrain and on to reveal sweeping views over Skjolden village, Lustrafjord and the surrounding mountains.

Highlights

Hike to Sengjaberget Viewpoint, 120 metres above the fjord, for magnificent views over Skjolden and Lustrafjord.

Follow your local guide through peaceful woodland and open terrain, learning how glaciers shaped the landscape.

Pause at the viewpoint to photograph sweeping panoramas of the village, fjord and surrounding mountains.

How it works

See Skjolden from a different perspective on this guided hike to Sengjaberget Viewpoint. After a short coach transfer from the pier, you’ll follow a well-maintained trail through peaceful woodland and open terrain, gradually climbing above the fjord.

The walk is moderately steep in places, with some uneven sections underfoot, so sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots are recommended. You’ll have around 50 minutes of walking time each way, with your local guide setting a steady pace and helping you understand the landscape around you.

As the trail rises, the view begins to open across Lustrafjord and the mountains that frame this beautiful corner of Sognefjord. At Sengjaberget Viewpoint, 120 metres above the fjord, there is time to pause, take photographs and enjoy the reward for the climb: sweeping views over Skjolden village and the deep fjord waters below and the peaks all around.

At the top, your guide points out natural landmarks and explains how glaciers, geology and local history have shaped the scenery below. After approximately 30 minutes, return along the same trail before the short coach transfer back to Skjolden pier.
