How it works

Experience Lustrafjord at a slower pace on this guided kayaking adventure from Skjolden.

After a short transfer from the pier to the kayak base, you’ll receive a safety briefing, an introduction to basic paddling techniques and be kitted out with a single kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid and spray deck.

Once on the fjord, follow your experienced local guide across the calm waters of Lustrafjord, the innermost branch of Sognefjord. From water level, the surrounding landscape feels even larger: steep mountains rise above you, waterfalls drop towards the shoreline and the fjord opens into wide, quiet views.

As you glide across the silent fjord, your guide helps you notice details in the landscape, from traces of life along the shore to the natural forces that shaped this deep fjord. With time for photographs and pauses to take in the stillness, this is an active yet peaceful way to experience epic nature up close.

You don’t need previous kayaking experience to enjoy this excursion, but you should have basic swimming skills and feel comfortable taking part in water-based activities.
