Admire Northern Europe’s best-preserved collection of wooden houses
Stroll through Stavanger’s charming Old Town with a local guide as you explore one of the best-preserved collections of wooden houses in Northern Europe. These 173 white-painted homes date back to the turn of the 18th century and line narrow cobblestone streets on the western edge of the harbor.
Your guide will bring Stavanger’s maritime and industrial history to life as you walk, before pausing at the 89-foot (27 m) Valberg Tower, a late-19th-century landmark that once housed the city’s watchmen.
From there, you’ll continue to Fargegaten, the colorful pedestrian street known for its pastel-painted buildings, boutique shops, and cafés—one of the most photographed areas in Stavanger.
The tour ends at a local café with a cup of coffee or tea and a traditional Norwegian treat: hjertevafler, the beloved heart-shaped waffle.
