How it works

Journey into one of Norway's most celebrated glacier landscapes on an excursion to Briksdalsbreen, a spectacular outlet glacier of Jostedalsbreen, mainland Europe's largest glacier.

After departing Olden, you'll travel through the beautiful Oldedalen Valley, where towering mountains, rushing rivers, and cascading waterfalls create a dramatic backdrop. The route follows the valley deep into glacier country, offering a glimpse of the powerful natural forces that have shaped this landscape over thousands of years.

At Briksdal, the adventure continues aboard the famous Troll Cars. These specially designed open-air vehicles provide a comfortable and enjoyable way to travel further into the valley while experienced local guides share stories about the area's history, geology, and glacier heritage.

The Troll Cars bring you close to the glacier, where a well-maintained path leads the final 2,297 ft (700 m) to viewpoints overlooking Briksdalsbreen Glacier. Here, surrounded by steep mountain walls, glacier-fed streams, and pristine wilderness, you'll have time to explore, take photographs, and appreciate the scale of this remarkable natural wonder.

After returning by Troll Car, there is free time at Briksdalsbre Fjellstove to relax and enjoy the surroundings before the return journey to Olden.

This excursion is ideal for those who want to experience one of Norway's most iconic glacier destinations without undertaking the full hike through the valley. Combining comfort, spectacular scenery, and unforgettable views, it offers an accessible way to discover the beauty of Briksdalsbreen.
