Planned Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Quito
Welcome to Quito, Ecuador’s historic capital. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure.
Day 2: Quito to Mashpi Reserve
Today, we’ll take you to the lush Mashpi Reserve conservation area. This misty cloud forest is part of the Ecuadorian Chocó rainforest, one of the most biodiverse places in the world. On the three-hour scenic journey, you’ll descend from 9,200 feet above sea level to 3,300 feet. After arriving at Mashpi Lodge, you’ll enjoy lunch, followed by a briefing on conservation in the Chocó rainforest and the incredible activities available to you while staying here. Your rainforest adventure begins with a guided walk along the dense jungle trails surrounded by flora and fauna. In the evening, listen to fascinating lectures and find out more about the unique ecosystem.
Day 3–4: Activities at Mashpi Reserve
Get ready for two days of adventure in the Ecuadorian rainforest. Before breakfast, as dawn breaks, start your day with some guided birdwatching. Your guide will then work with you to adapt the day’s activity program to your tastes.
Explore jungle trails, take an exhilarating waterfall shower, try the Sky Bike canopy tour, climb the observation tower, or glide through the trees on a Dragonfly canopy ride. In the evenings, you can take night walks, visit the Life Center, or relax in the lodge’s wellness area.
Day 5: Return to Quito
Don’t miss your last chance to see the extraordinary birdlife of the rainforest up close. Meet your guide at 6:30 a.m. for a morning stroll to spot flocks of feeding birds – you could see up to 20 different species at one time. After breakfast, you have time for a short hike or another activity before we make the three-hour trip back to Quito.
We arrive back in Quito with enough time for you to visit some of the city’s highlights at your leisure. Tonight’s overnight stay in your hotel marks the beginning of your expedition cruise.

Remarks and requirements
This tour is available as a Pre-Program in combination with expedition cruises starting in Quito before traveling to the Galápagos Islands.
This excursion includes walking over uneven terrain and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Parts of the road to the Mashpi Lodge are unpaved.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the trip up to six weeks before departure.
