Enjoy the charm of an authentic fishing villages on one of the islands

Wander through local areas on foot

Explore Lofoten and learn fascinating local history.

How it works

Your tour begins in Svolvær, the unofficial capital of Lofoten, where the twin peaks of Svolværgeita—the iconic “Goat Horns” of Mount Fløyfjellet—rise nearly 500 feet (150 m) above the town.

A scenic drive takes you to Henningsvær, passing Vågan Church, the largest wooden church north of Trondheim, with dramatic mountain walls on one side and the sea on the other.

In Henningsvær, you'll visit Galleri Lofoten, home to one of Norway’s finest collections of Northern Norwegian paintings from the golden age of the early 20th century.

On the return journey to Svolvær, you'll stop at the SKREI Heritage Center, which includes the Lofoten Museum, Galleri Espolin, and the Lofoten Aquarium. Learn how fishermen and landowners lived throughout the centuries, admire powerful portraits of Lofoten life, and discover local marine species including seals, otters, and the famous skrei (Arctic cod) that gives the center its name.
