How it works
You’ll board a bus for a highlights tour of Trondheim, one of Norway’s most historic cities. Founded in 997, it was Norway’s original Viking capital—a city that blends more than 1,000 years of history with a modern reputation as a leading center of knowledge, innovation, and technology.
Our tour passes the city’s iconic red bridge and the 18th-century wooden wharf buildings of Bakklandet, which line the banks of the Nid River. We’ll then stop at the Utsikten viewpoint for sweeping views across the city, including Kristiansten Fortress and the island of Munkholmen in the fjord.
Our final stop is Nidaros Cathedral, Norway’s national shrine. Built over St. Olav’s tomb in 1070, it is a Gothic masterpiece known for its intricate stonework and soaring architecture. After a guided tour, you’ll receive a complimentary book about the cathedral to take home before we board the bus and return to the ship.

On Sundays and bank holidays, guiding will take place outside the cathedral and in the museum due to church services being held inside the cathedral. Photography is not permitted inside Nidaros Cathedral.
