How it works
From Stamsund, a bus takes you to the Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg. Here, you can explore a full reconstruction of the longest Viking longhouse ever discovered—originally built around AD 500 and inhabited by a chieftain and his household until around AD 1000.
The scent of tar and woodsmoke greets you at the entrance. Inside, oil lamps cast a flickering glow across the intricate craftsmanship and ornamentation of the chieftain’s home. Your hosts invite you to witness an authentic Viking ritual—a sacrifice to the Old Norse gods, offered in prayer for health, prosperity, and the return of the sun.
Afterward, enjoy a traditional Viking meal served with mead, the drink of the gods, before exploring the longhouse at your own pace. The bus then continues to Svolvær, where you’ll rejoin the ship.
