Visit the cultural heart of Lofoten on a tour of Kabelvåg, one of the islands’ oldest fishing villages, with roots stretching back more than a thousand years. Take in world-class art, local fishing heritage, and a striking Gothic Revival cathedral, all set against beautiful fjord scenery.

Highlights

Enjoy views of Lofoten’s spectacular landscapes throughout the tour.

Visit Kabelvåg, a small, charming fishing village.

See the exhibitions in the Galleri Espolin and Lofoten Museum in Kabelvåg.

Admire a beautiful Vågan church, also known as the Lofoten Cathedral, as we pass by.

How it works

Departing Stamsund by bus, our first stop is Torvdalshalsen, a scenic viewpoint with sweeping vistas across the fjord. From here, we continue to Kabelvåg, one of Lofoten’s oldest fishing villages and the birthplace of the islands’ commercial fishing industry more than 1,000 years ago.

The village is steeped in medieval history. At its center stands a historic main building dating to 1815, alongside Vågan Church—often called the Lofoten Cathedral—a striking Gothic Revival church built in 1898 and one of Norway’s largest churches.

In Kabelvåg, we’ll visit Galleri Espolin, home to the largest collection of works by beloved local artist Kaare Espolin Johnson, as well as the nearby Lofoten Museum, which showcases the region’s rich fishing heritage. We then continue to Svolvær to rejoin the ship.
