Learn how Kristiansand is working to become one of Europe’s most environmentally friendly cities on this guided walking tour.

Highlights

Discover the sustainable sights of Kristiansund by foot

Learn about renewal energy, urban beekeeping and other sustainable initiatives

Pick up a unique souvenir at a locally run creative collective

How it works

Your tour begins at the pier, where you’ll be introduced to local renewable energy initiatives and ongoing harbor cleanup projects. From here, you’ll cross the bridge to Odderøya Island, a historic former military area now transformed into a creative hub with artist studios and sustainability-focused initiatives.

As you explore, look for ceramic birdhouses placed high in the trees and the striking Giant Crab sculpture—crafted entirely from recycled waste materials—located near the sustainable food innovation center. You’ll also visit Nupen Fountain Park, known for its distinctive granite fountains created by a local artist, and the city garden, where you’ll learn about urban beekeeping at the Insect Hotel.

The final stop is Kollektivet, a creative collective made up of 21 local designers. Guided by a zero-waste philosophy, the space features everything from curated secondhand items to unique handcrafted art and design pieces.
