  • Meet friendly huskies and experienced mushers

  • Enjoy Norwegian waffles at Camp Barentz

  • Discover the history of Svalbard at The Svalbard Museum

From the pier, it’s a short journey out of Longyearbyen into the Advent Valley and Camp Barentz, where the sound of happy huskies announces your arrival.

Here, an experienced musher will introduce you to the dogs and share what life is like for them in the High Arctic. Afterwards, you'll head inside for Norwegian waffles, coffee and a presentation on the polar bear – the undisputed king of the Arctic.

From there, your guide accompanies you to the Svalbard Museum, which chronicles over 400 years of history of the archipelago through fascinating artefacts and exhibitions. It's also the best place in town to have your photograph taken with a polar bear statue.
