Bracenet - sustainable bracelets made of old fishing nets

It's no secret: the oceans are drowning in plastic waste. In the North Pacific alone, there is a plastic vortex four and a half times the size of Germany. 46% of it consists of old, lost or intentionally dumped fishing nets. Every year, up to 1 million tons of these so-called "ghost nets" end up in our oceans - fishing on and on, killing countless marine animals.

How does it work?

Bracenet are putting an end to the haunting of ghost nets and getting them out of the world's oceans! To do this, they are working with Healthy Seas, Ghost Diving and Nofir. Healthy Seas navigate salvage trips with Ghost Diving's 250 volunteer, specially trained divers worldwide. They free ghost nets from wrecks and reefs from depths of up to 50 meters. Back on land, Nofir cleans the nets in an environmentally friendly way using only water and collects discarded nets from fisheries so that they do not end up in the sea in the first place.

The nets then arrive in the Bracenet Hamburg factory. In loving, elaborate upcycling handwork they process the nets into new products such as bracelets (the "Bracenets"), key chains, dog leashes and many more.

These are products from the sea and for the sea, as they regularly donate to marine conservation, including Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving - over €220,000 so far - to fund further salvage missions and awareness work. They also work with several other NGOs to support marine protection.

Together with BRACENET, everyone can make their own contribution to protecting our seas. SAVE THE SEAS, WEAR A NET.
