Your tour begins in Svolvær, Lofoten's unofficial capital, where the twin peaks of Svolværgeita – the iconic "goat horns" of Mount Fløyfjellet – rise 150 metres above the town.
A scenic bus drive leads Henningsvær, passing Vågan Church, the largest wooden church north of Trondheim, with the sea on one side and steep mountain walls on the other. In Henningsvær, you can visit Gallery Lofoten, home to one of Norway's finest collections of North Norwegian painting from the golden age of the early 20th century.
On the way back to Svolvær, enjoy a stop at the SKREI Heritage Centre, which includes the Lofoten Museum, Gallery Espolin, and the Lofoten Aquarium. Learn how local fishermen and landowners lived throughout history at the museum, before heading to the gallery to admire unique portraits of Lofoten’s people. Check out the aquarium to see a variety of local marine life, including seals and otters, and of course the cod or skrei that gave the centre its name.
