Join a spectacular mountain hike in the Hjørundfjord. From the top you have a great view to the sharp mountain peaks rise up from the fjords to heights of up to 5,000 ft. above sea level in many places. Even in the summer there is snow on the sharp mountainsides and numerous hanging glaciers reinforce the Alpine impression. The hike starts on a farm road and continues on a path for tractors. It's a steep climb towards the top, and the last 500 meters you will walk up an old stone stair. Once we reach the top you are rewarded with an absolutely fantastic view. If you follow the path up the hill, you can see the village of Sæbø on the other side of the fjord. At the top you can also visit an abandoned but tidy bear cave. Before descending, we take a coffee break in Leknes valley overlooking the village Urke, the fjord and the beautiful mountains. We take the same road back, and visit the local grocer before we end the excursion at Kaihuset Café. You will be served a well-earned, ice-cold beer named “Slogen”, which is the name of the majestic mountain we see on the other side of the fjord.
