Enjoy spectacular views across Lake Bondhusvatnet of mountains, waterfalls and glacier ice.
Experience one of Hardanger's most beautiful hiking trails on a guided walk through Bondhusdalen valley, gateway to the magnificent landscapes of Folgefonna National Park.
After a scenic drive from Rosendal, you'll arrive in the valley and begin following the historic Ice Road, built in 1863 to transport glacier ice from Bondhusbreen glacier to waiting ships on the fjord. As you walk, your guide will share stories of this remarkable trade and the people who once worked in these dramatic surroundings.
The well-maintained trail winds through a landscape shaped by ice and water over thousands of years. Along the way, waterfalls tumble down steep mountainsides, rivers flow through the valley and towering peaks rise above the surrounding forests.
The highlight of the excursion is Bondhusvatnet, one of Norway's most celebrated glacier lakes. Its crystal-clear waters reflect the surrounding mountains, while views stretch towards Bondhusbreen and the ice fields of Folgefonna National Park. It's an unforgettable setting and a favourite location for photographers and nature lovers alike.
Following the hike, you'll visit a local farm to enjoy refreshments before returning to Rosendal.
Combining fascinating history, glacier landscapes and moderate outdoor activity, this excursion offers an excellent introduction to one of western Norway's most iconic natural areas.
