Discover the rich history and natural beauty of Rosendal on a guided walk through one of Norway's most charming fjordside villages. Nestled between the Hardangerfjord and towering mountains, Rosendal offers a fascinating blend of heritage, culture and spectacular scenery.
Your walk begins at Kvinnherad’s stone church, one of Western Norway's best-preserved medieval churches. Here, your guide will share stories of the church's long history and its connections to the influential families who once shaped life in the region.
Continuing through the village, you'll stroll along peaceful streets lined with traditional houses, gardens and farms while learning about local traditions and everyday life in Rosendal. The route then leads to Steinparken, an unusual open-air park where geology, art and nature come together. Massive boulders transported by glaciers from across Norway help tell the story of the country's ancient geological past, while sculptures and landscaped waterways create a unique setting. You'll also have time to explore the exhibition, browse the shop or relax in the café.
Following the river, the walk continues to the beautiful gardens surrounding The Barony, Norway's only such estate. Surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, these carefully maintained grounds offer a glimpse into centuries of history and the estate's connections to European nobility.
Combining local stories, cultural heritage and beautiful surroundings, this gentle guided walk provides an engaging introduction to one of the most distinctive communities along Hardangerfjord.
