Experience close-up views of Briksdalsbreen, an outlet glacier of mighty Jostedalsbreen
Journey into one of Norway's most celebrated glacier landscapes on an excursion to Briksdalsbreen, a spectacular outlet glacier of Jostedalsbreen, mainland Europe's largest glacier.
After departing Olden, you'll travel through the beautiful Oldedalen valley where towering mountains, rushing rivers and cascading waterfalls create a dramatic backdrop. The route follows the valley deep into glacier country, offering a glimpse of the powerful natural forces that have shaped this landscape for thousands of years.
At Briksdal, the adventure continues aboard the famous Troll Cars. These specially designed open-top vehicles provide a comfortable and enjoyable way to travel further into the valley, while experienced local guides share stories about the area's history, geology and glacier heritage.
The Troll Cars bring you close to the glacier, where a well-maintained path leads the final 700 metres to viewpoints overlooking Briksdalsbreen. Here, surrounded by steep mountain walls, glacier-fed streams and pristine wilderness, you'll have time to explore, take photographs and appreciate the scale of this remarkable natural wonder.
After returning by Troll Car, there is some free time at Briksdalsbre Fjellstove to relax and enjoy the surroundings before the return journey to Olden.
This excursion is ideal for those who wish to experience one of Norway's most iconic glacier destinations without undertaking the full hike through the valley, and combines comfort, scenery and unforgettable views.
