How it works

Your immersive town walk and museum tour begins at Rørvik’s pier, where you’ll meet your guide. The town's history starts after the ice has melted from the Ice Age, when small settlements were established in the area. Today, you’ll visit the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Viking Age, Middle Ages, and more recent times. Each era has its own character, but all are united by an enduring maritime heritage.

Your first stop is the Norveg Coastal Museum – an architecturally striking building whose wave-inspired design echoes the famous Sydney Opera House. Inside, a new aquaculture exhibition traces the remarkable story of Norwegian salmon farming, from its origins to a glimpse of its future. You'll also hear the story of St. Svitun, a Hurtigruten vessel wrecked on Folla, the open stretch of sea right outside Rørvik.

From there, you'll visit Berggården where a preserved shop display from 1888 and historic living rooms from 1878 offer a vivid window into daily life of the past. The tour finishes at Telemuseet, which traces the history of telecommunications and the vital role of Rørvik Coast Radio Station in the life of the local community.
