Starting in Honningsvåg, we’ll enjoy a bus ride through fantastic scenery while our guide tells us about local history.
First, we head to the world’s northernmost fishing village, Skarsvåg, where we visit the cosy ‘Christmas and Winter House’ and meet its owner Heidi, who will give us more insight about life in the Arctic. With festive music playing and rooms sparkling with decorations, there is a range of locally produced items available to peruse. We’ll also enjoy a hot drink and slice of cake here.
Next, we explore the picturesque harbour at Kamøyvær, where a small fishing fleet bobs on the water and the rhythms of a working village play out around you. Weather permitting, we stop at the Tufjorden viewpoint to see the Hornet – a striking natural rock formation held sacred by the Sámi people.
Back in Honningsvåg, the tour ends with a visit to the gallery of artist Eva Schmutterer, whose work draws on the wild landscape that surrounds her.
