About this activity
Stretching for over 100 km, the Senja National Scenic Route offers a journey through a kaleidoscope of changing landscapes.
From the ship, we’ll wind our way along the ridge above the village of Bergsbotn. Here, you can step out on to a 44m-long platform, from where you can soak up jaw-dropping vistas of the Bergsfjord and the surrounding peaks.
Next, we’ll head to the Tungenes rest area, perched at the tip of the headland between Steinfjord and Ersfjord. Take a stroll along the wooden walkway that leads out over the rocks to enjoy views of the North Sea to the west and the razor-sharp Okshornan mountains to the north.
Our final stop is Ersfjordstranda, a stunning arc of pristine white sand. Set against a backdrop of jagged peaks, this is Norway at its most beautiful. And be sure to check out the gold-plated toilet block before heading back to the bus!

Cycle alongside the fjords on an e-bike
Get a fantastic view of inner Gryllefjord
Enjoy incredible views of Bergsfjorden
A great activity to soak up the summer weather
About this activity
Join a local guide on an invigorating evening tour of Senja by e-bike. Partly powered by electricity, these bikes are more powerful and easier to use than regular bicycles, so even an uphill ride won’t tire you out. This being the Arctic in summertime, the days are much longer, giving us plenty of time to see the island’s sights.
We’ll start the tour in Hamn and take the old road to Gryllefjordbotn and upwards to Ballsvikskardet Viewpoint, where we’ll stop to soak up the view. Admire the fjord and the surrounding mountains, perhaps illuminated by the soft glow of the evening sun.
From here, we follow the old road down on the opposite side and head back towards Hamn. If time allows, we will also visit the beautiful beach of Ballsevika.
Please note: you must be confident in how to use an e-bike to participate in this excursion. Excursion is subject to a minimum number of participants.

About this activity
Embark on an enthralling guided RIB tour through the captivating fjords of Torskenfjord, Skipsfjord, and Osternfjord. We begin at Torsken, where you’ll explore the intriguing waterworks that play an integral part in the region’s history. We then head to the summer pastures on Skipsfjord’s southern edge, where women rowed from bank to bank twice a day for milking. Legend has it that once, the fjord teemed with so many whales that the women hesitated to cross, opting to row along its length instead.
The tales continue at Ostern, where we’ll delve into the tragic stories of two World War II airplane wrecks. Next up is Kjerringberget and the iconic Kjerringa rock formation which, according to legend, was cursed by a priest. Weather permitting, we might also be able to visit some of the enchanting small islets off the coast of Senja.
As we explore the fjords, keep an eye out for seals, otters, and even small whales in the surrounding waters, as well as Sea Eagles and myriad seabirds in the skies above.

Wander local areas on foot
Explore Lofoten and learn fascinating local history
About this activity
The tour starts in Lofoten's unofficial capital, Svolvær. From here, you can see Svolværgeita, the 150-metre stone pinnacle of the mountain Fløyfjellet. Popular with mountain climbers, this iconic mountain peak is known for its goat-like appearance, with two horns protruding from the very top.
We’ll take a scenic drive to Henningsvær, passing Vågan church, the largest wooden church north of Trondheim. As we get closer to our destination, we’ll be driving with the sea on one side and a steep mountainside on the other. Keep your camera ready to capture the stunning summer scenery.
Once we reach Henningsvær, you’ll get the chance to explore world-class art galleries, including Gallery Lofoten. This gallery has the world's largest collection from the 20th century, the so-called "Golden age of North-Norwegian art".
On our way back to Svolvær, we’ll stop off at SKREI Heritage Centre, which includes the Lofoten Museum, Gallery Espolin, and the Lofoten Aquarium. At the Lofoten Museum, you can learn about how local fishermen and landowners lived throughout history, before heading to the gallery to admire unique portraits of Lofoten’s people. Check out the aquarium to see a variety of local marine life, including seals and otters, and of course the cod or "skrei", that gave the centre its name.

Learn fascinating Viking stories as we drive through one of the region’s important Viking seats, mentioned in the Icelandic sagas
Sample a local version of lefse, a traditional flatbread with a unique connection to Torghatten mythology
About this activity
One of Norway’s most iconic places, Torghatten is known for its spectacular hole and the enthralling myths behind it. According to legend, it was created by an arrow fired by the lusty son of a mighty troll king while he was chasing a troll maiden who had been making lefse.
We start with a bus tour of Brønnøysund’s sights, before driving across Brønnøsund Bridge to Torget island and the foot of Torghatten.
Our walk (10-20 min each way) follows a narrow path to the seashore to view the famous hole through the mountain. The hole measures 160m long, 35m high, and 15-20m wide; in theory, we could sail a Hurtigruten ship through it!

Follow the smaller roads to Tørrfiskbrygga to see traditional boats and old handcrafts, and discover why Brønnøy Church isn’t just any old Norwegian church...
Next, we’ll cycle about 1.2 miles (2km) to the Kunstlåven, the ARTBARN, in a picturesque old farm at the end of the road near the sea. It’s the showroom of a local visual artist. We’ll share traditional coffee and cake with her here. If you like, take some time to explore outside too – head to the shore and scan the beautiful bay to spot the famous Torghatten mountain.
When we’ve cycled back to the pier, we’ll have earned a taste of what is reputedly the best soft ice cream in the world!

About this activity
One of the best ways to explore Ålesund is on foot, and this walking tour takes you close to the spires, turrets, and medieval-style ornaments that characterise the town.
One winter’s night in 1904, a fire raged through Ålesund, leaving 10,000 people homeless. Over the next three years, the entire town centre was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style. Today, Ålesund is one of Norway’s most unique and beautiful towns.
