Discover a different side of Hardanger on a scenic journey into the spectacular mountain landscapes of Blådalen (Blue Valley). While Hardanger is famous for its fjords and orchards, this excursion reveals the wild and rugged mountain scenery that rises high above the coast.
Travelling by coach, you'll ascend into a landscape of dramatic peaks, open plateaus, and brilliant turquoise reservoirs. Although shaped by powerful natural forces over millions of years, the region also tells a story of human ingenuity. Along the route, your guide will explain how hydropower development transformed these remote mountains and continues to play an important role in modern Norway.
Several scenic stops along the way provide opportunities to take photographs and admire the remarkable surroundings. You'll learn about the area's geology, mountain farming traditions, and the wildlife that inhabits these upland landscapes.
The excursion also includes a stop at a local mountain lodge, where you'll enjoy coffee or tea accompanied by waffles with jam and traditional Norwegian flatbread served with brown cheese.
Offering spectacular scenery with minimal walking, this excursion is ideal for guests who wish to experience Hardanger's mountain wilderness in comfort while gaining insight into the landscapes, traditions, and history that have shaped the region.
