Visit Norway’s longest and deepest fjord in one day from Bergen or Oslo
Travel on the scenic Flåm Mountain Railway and see Kjosfossen Waterfall
Free entrance to the Flåm Railway Museum to learn more about its history
Visit the villages of Flåm and Balestrand and enjoy hours of cruising on Sognefjord
Your day starts with a train journey from either Bergen or Oslo station to Myrdal mountain station, situated 867 metres above sea level.
There, you’ll transfer to the Flåm Mountain Railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. For the next hour, you’ll be glued to the window of your vintage train compartment as the train descends the mountain into the valley, passing farmsteads as it follows the river north.
Before arriving in the village of Flåm, the train will stop at Kjosfossen Waterfall for five minutes, allowing you to disembark onto the platform to take photos.
Once in Flåm, you’ll have a little time at the Flåm Railway Museum to learn more about how this amazing feat of engineering came to be.
It’s now time for one of the main highlights: a cruise of Sognefjord via the 17-km arm of Aurlandsfjord. Welcome to Norway´s longest and deepest fjord and the so-called ‘King of Fjords’. It extends 204 km inland, surrounded by mountains up to 2,000 metres tall.
The boat will travel much of the fjord, out into open sea, and hug the coast south to Bergen. If you’re going on to Oslo, you’ll take the train from Bergen to Oslo.
