Enjoy a traditional Viking meal with mead, the drink of the gods
From Stamsund, a bus takes you to the Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg. Here, you can see a full reconstruction of the longest Viking longhouse ever discovered – built around 500 AD and inhabited by a chieftain and his household until around 1000 AD.
The smell of tar and bonfire greets you at the threshold. Inside, oil lamps cast a flickering light over the intricate craftsmanship and ornamentation of the chieftain's home, where your hosts invite you to witness an authentic Viking ritual – a sacrifice to the Old Norse gods, offered in prayer for health, prosperity and the return of the sun.
Afterwards, sit down to a traditional Viking meal served with mead, the drink of the gods, before exploring the longhouse at your own pace. The bus then continues to Svolvær, returning you to the ship.
