Hurtigruten Expeditions Rebrands as HX

A new chapter in exploration

Antarctica

Exploring, just as before

HX, short for Hurtigruten Expeditions, will continue to provide curious travellers with mindful adventures to awe-inspiring places like Iceland, Antarctica, Galápagos, Alaska and more. It’s been that way since our first expedition in 1896, and HX will continue to offer captivating experiences that are deeply rooted in exploration, scientific research and community advocacy.

Why change our name to HX?

Hurtigruten is the specific name of the time-honoured route that calls at 34 ports along the Norwegian coast. However, in true explorer spirit, the expedition side of Hurtigruten ventures far beyond the coast of Norway – outgrowing the original meaning of Hurtigruten in the process.

That’s why we’ve switched to HX. It’s a name that reflects our ever-expanding horizons while still paying homage to our storied history of pioneering seafaring. What’s more, the new name helps ensure a distinct identity for our expedition-focused brand and our sister company, Hurtigruten, which remains dedicated to sailing the Norwegian coast and serving its communities.

New look, same spirit

There are no changes to our itineraries, onboard experience, famous explorer ethos or mission to be the world’s most sustainable expedition company. You’ll just notice our new logo and name across our brochures, website, emails and eventually our fleet, including MS Roald Amundsen, MS Fridjof Nansen, MS Maud and more.
