Arrival and departure information for The North Cape Express

We are excited to welcome you on board MS Trollfjord to experience the best of Norway’s coast and culture.  

Below you will find important arrival and departure information for all North Cape Express voyages. Please note that the information provided is subject to change, and some services described may not be included in your personal travel arrangements.  

If your voyage starts in Bergen or Oslo, you will receive details for your stay (including opening hours of our hospitality desk at the hotel) a few days prior to arrival.  Please check your email/SMS. If your voyage starts in Tromsø, you will receive a welcome letter with further information and exact timings at the hotel.  

Information for cruise-only guests

Please note: if you booked your voyage fewer than 90 days before your departure, your trip does not include transfers, hotel stays or sightseeing tours. Your embarkation times are as follows:

Departing from Bergen

Jektevik Terminal, Nøstegaten 30, 5010 Bergen

Check-in opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 1:30 p.m. The ship opens at 12:00 p.m, and cabins are available from 2:00 p.m.

Departing from Oslo

Revierkaia, Revierstredet, 0150 Oslo 

Check-in opens at 12:00 p.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. Cabins are available from 3:00 p.m.

Please note: MS Trollfjord will depart from the following terminal on 03/24/2024: Filipstad cruise terminal, Filipstadveien 10, 0250 Oslo.

Departing from Tromsø

Prostneset, Quay 8 (next to the terminal), Samuel Arnesens gate 3, 9008 Tromsø 

Check-in opens at 08:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory health and safety brief will take place onboard. Cabins are available from 5:00 p.m.

Please note: Owing to operational considerations, MS Trollfjord will depart from Quay 21 at Terminalgata, 9019 Tromsø, on the following dates: 01/30/2024 (at 9:00 p.m.); 02/23/2024 (at 9:00 p.m.), and 03/30/2024 (at 6:00 p.m.).

Bergen to Oslo

Arrival in Bergen

Transfer from the airport to hotel  

To get to the city centre, take the Flybussen (the official airport shuttle bus) from platform A5 in front of the arrivals hall (click here to see a map). You can find the transfer times on the official timetable. Once on the bus, you'll need to show the driver your applicable transfer voucher, which you can find in your travel documents.    

All hotels are located within walking distance of the bus stops (click here to see a map). You can find your specific hotel information on your itinerary.   

The designated Flybussen stop for your hotel is as follows:  

  • Clarion Hotel Admiral: Strandkaiterminalen (120 m)  

  • Clarion Hotel Bergen: Torget C (240 m) or Torget D (140 m)  

Overnight in Bergen 

Once you arrive at your hotel, you can check in at 3:00 p.m. The rest of the day is yours to explore Bergen. You can find your hotel details on your itinerary. Breakfast will also be provided in the morning.  

Sightseeing in Bergen

This morning, you will be picked up in front of the hotel for a guided bus tour of Bergen (approx. 3 hours). We recommend wearing warm, comfortable shoes and wind and weatherproof clothes. You’ll enjoy visiting well-known sites such as Nordnes peninsula, medieval Håkon’s Hall, the Renaissance-era Rosenkrantz Tower, and 12th-century St Mary’s Church, known as Mariakirken in Norwegian. 

Your tour will also take you by the UNESCO-listed buildings in the Bryggen district and will take you back to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore.  

Embarking on MS Trollfjord

A transfer bus (clearly marked with an ‘MS Trollfjord’ sign) will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Jektevik Terminal in time for embarkation. The transfers are ordered by deck number. Your luggage must be marked with your cabin number. Luggage tags can be picked up at the Hurtigruten hospitality desk at the hotel. Upon arrival at the terminal, your luggage will be picked up at the bus and delivered to your cabin. 

After check-in, all guests must attend a safety briefing in the Guest Lounge Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the terminal.  

Once on board, lunch will be served between 12:00-2:30 p.m., and your cabin will be ready for you at 2:00 p.m. Between 3:00-5:45 p.m., you’ll meet your Coastal Experience Team who will be organising onboard activities and lectures throughout your voyage. Specific timings for each language will be provided on board.   

Your scenic adventure along Norway’s coast gets underway at around 2:30 p.m., as we set sail from Bergen.  

Disembarking MS Trollfjord in Oslo 

Your journey on board MS Trollfjord will come to an end at Revierkaia terminal in Oslo at 08:00 a.m.  Please note: MS Trollfjord will instead dock at Filipstad terminal on 03/24/2024.

If you have booked a transfer to the airport, your bus will leave after breakfast from the pier. Specific timings will be provided on board. If you have not booked yet, you can book transfers on the ship.  

Oslo to Bergen

Day 1: Arrival in Oslo

Transfer from airport to city center 

To get to your hotel from the airport, take the Flytoget airport express train from the platforms that can be accessed from next to the baggage claim exit. Your ticket is included in your travel documents as a QR code - you will need to scan this to enter the platform. This is valid on either of the Flytoget trains (F1 and F2), but not on regular VY trains. 

The service leaves every 10 minutes from platform 3 (subject to change) and takes around 20 minutes to Oslo Central Station; please see the timetable for more information. All trains are equipped with free Wi-Fi, power sockets and toilets.  

Your hotel (Clarion The Hub) is located within walking distance (350m) of Oslo Central Station (Jernbanestasjon/Oslo S).  

Overnight in Oslo

Check-in to Clarion The Hub hotel is open from 15:00 and the rest of the day is yours to explore in Oslo. If you arrive earlier, you can store your luggage at the hotel. Breakfast will be provided in the hotel in the following morning.  

Day 2: Sightseeing in Oslo

After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll enjoy a guided bus tour of Oslo (approx. 3 hours), which stops at Vigeland Sculpture Park and if weather allows, we will stop at Holmenkollen Ski Jump. We recommend wearing warm, comfortable shoes and wind and weatherproof clothes. 

After the tour, the rest of the day in Oslo is yours to explore. 

Day 3: Embarking on MS Trollfjord

A transfer bus (marked with an MS Trollfjord sign) will pick you up from the hotel. Exact timings will be provided in the welcome letter or at the hospitality desk. 

Once on board, all guests must attend a safety briefing. Lunch will be served between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., and your cabin will be ready for you at 3:00 p.m. Between 3:00-5:45 p.m., you’ll meet your Coastal Experience Team who will be organizing onboard activities and lectures throughout your voyage. They will also take you through a mandatory safety briefing.  

Your scenic adventure along Norway’s coast gets underway at around 6:00 p.m., as we set sail from Oslo.   

Disembarking MS Trollfjord in Bergen

Your journey on board MS Trollfjord will come to an end at Jektevik Terminal in Bergen at 07:00 a.m. Optional transfers to the airport can be purchased on board the ship latest one day prior.  

Note that not all transfers listed may be included in your travel arrangements, so please see your personal travel itinerary for your specific transfers.  

Half Voyage: Bergen to Tromsø

Day 1: Arrival in Bergen

Your journey on board MS Trollfjord will come to an end at Prostneset in Tromsø at 08:00. Please note: Owing to operational considerations, MS Trollfjord will dock at Quay 21 at Terminalgata, 9019 Tromsø, on the following dates: 01/30/2024; 02/23/2024, and 03/30/2024.

After breakfast, you’ll enjoy an inclusive bus tour (approx. 3 hours) where you’ll visit three of Tromsø’s most famous attractions: the Arctic Cathedral, Polaria center, and Mount Storsteinen. You’ll find specific details and timings in the welcome letter. We recommend wearing warm, comfortable shoes and wind and weatherproof clothes. 

Overnight in Tromsø 

You can check in from 3:00 p.m. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore as you wish. Breakfast will be provided at the hotel the following morning. 

Departure from Tromsø

To get to the airport, you will take the red Bussring (official airport bus). You can find the transfer times on the official timetable, but these may vary on weekends. The transfer time to the airport is approximately 15 minutes, and the closest stop to your hotel is either Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum (Clarion The Edge) or Scandic Ishavshotellet (Clarion Collection Aurora).

Once on the bus, you'll need to show the driver your applicable transfer voucher, which is found in your travel documents. Please note that not all transfers listed may be included in your travel arrangements, so please see your personal travel itinerary for your specific transfers. 

Half voyage: Oslo to Tromsø

After breakfast on board, you’ll disembark for a guided bus tour of Bergen (approx. 3 hours). You’ll enjoy visiting well-known sites such as Nordnes peninsula, medieval Håkon’s Hall, the Renaissance-era Rosenkrantz Tower, and 12th-century St Mary’s Church, known as Mariakirken in Norwegian. This excursion will end at your hotel. Specific timings will be provided on board, and you can find your hotel details on your itinerary.    

Overnight in Bergen   Check-in will be available from 3:00 p.m., and the rest of the day is yours to explore. If you’d prefer to head out and explore, you can leave your luggage at the hotel until your room is ready. The next morning, breakfast will be provided at the hotel. 

Departure from Bergen

To get to the airport, take the Flybussen (the official airport shuttle bus) close to your hotel. You can find the transfer times on the official timetable. When you board the bus, you'll need to show the driver your applicable transfer voucher, which you can find in your travel documents.

Departure from Oslo

The following day, your adventure with us comes to an end. To get to the airport, take the Flytoget airport express train from platform 10 (subject to change) at Oslo Central Station whenever it suits you. Your ticket is included in your travel documents as a QR code - you will need to scan it when you leave the train at the airport. This is valid on either of the Flytoget trains (F1 and F2), but not on regular VY trains.  

The service leaves every 10 minutes and takes around 20 minutes to the airport. All trains are equipped with free Wi-Fi, power sockets and toilets.
