  • Journey from Kirkenes by riverboat up the Pasvik River.

  • Marvel at beautiful scenery and learn about the area’s wildlife.

  • Visit the Norwegian-Russian border and hear about its history.

  • Enjoy hot drinks and cloudberries with cream.

As you sail, your guide brings the region’s rich history to life with stories of the Sámi people and their nomadic reindeer-herding traditions. You’ll also hear tales of Russia’s first martyrs, St. Boris and St. Gleb, as well as St. Trifon of the Pechenga Monastery, the northernmost monastery in the world.

At the border, you’ll go ashore to learn more about Norway’s relationship with its easternmost neighbor. You’ll then enjoy a warm drink and a traditional Norwegian favorite: cloudberries and cream.

The return journey to Kirkenes is relaxed and scenic, with opportunities to spot reindeer, wildlife, and the rich plant life that thrives along the riverbanks.
