This tour begins at the dock in Santarém, where guests will board a boat heading downstream toward the unusual phenomenon known as the 'Meeting of the Waters'.
The 'Meeting of the Waters' is where the Amazon River and Tapajós River come together. You'll continue to the Maica area, a natural outlet of the Amazon River. This area is narrower, making it easier to see the sights as the boat meanders through the flood plain. This area highlights the beautiful landscape of the Amazon basin.
Birdwatching is one of the highlights of this tour, where you'll have an opportunity to see and identify many different bird species. There is also a possibility to see freshwater dolphins.
Before returning to Santarém, the boat captain will make a stop to fish for piranhas!
