Native son of Hammerfest, Adolf Henrik Lindstrøm was a chef and prolific polar explorer. He joined the likes of Nansen, Amundsen, and Sverdrup on their expeditions to the North and South Pole. Lindstrøm also sailed through the Northwest Passage and around the American continent. No Norwegian had more experience exploring both the Arctic and the Antarctic.

Today, you’ll follow in Lindstrøm’s footsteps on an expedition of your own. The bus will pick us up at the pier and take us to Framheim, a large tent at Mount Salen’s ‘base camp’, named after Roald Amundsen’s base camp at the South Pole.

After putting on warm clothes, you’ll have the true Arctic expedition experience, traveling by foot to the top of the mountain. Just like the illustrious explorers of old, we’ll plant a flag at the peak. Then, we return to Framheim for a taste of Lindstrøm’s favorite recipes.
