Day 1: Santiago de Chile
You'll enjoy a relaxing night in a comfortable hotel in Chile’s fascinating capital.
Day 2: Travel to San Pedro de Atacama
Begin the day with a flight to Calama and your first close look at the dramatic Atacama Desert on the way to San Pedro de Atacama–Chile’s archaeological capital. We arrive at Hotel Cumbres San Pedro de Atacama, built in the indigenous Ayllus architectural style. You'll spend the next three nights here where relaxation, luxury and exploration go hand in hand. Before dinner, you can join a guided astronomy tour in the desert.
Day 3-4: Exploring San Pedro de Atacama
Enjoy two full days exploring the desert’s geological and archaeological wonders from geysers and saltpans to the High Andean lagoons. You can choose from an exciting range of full-day and half-day excursions offered by the hotel.
Climb the Duna Mayor in Moon Valley and watch the sun set over the Cordillera de la Sal. Explore the Tatio Geysirs and geothermal fields. Spot vicuñas and flamingos in Machuca or take a trip to the archaeological sites in Tulor, the oldest settlement on the salt flats.
After a day filled with wonderful Atacama desert experiences, it's time to relax. Enjoy a dip in the pool and fine cuisine back at your hotel.
Day 5: San Pedro de Atacama to Santiago
We'll take you to the airport in the morning, where you'll fly back to Santiago de Chile and transfer to your hotel. This is where your Pre-Programme ends and your Antarctica expedition cruise begins.
The hotel night is part of your Antarctica expedition cruise.

The overnight stay on your return to Santiago is part of your Antarctica expedition cruise.
This tour requires a good physical fitness and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. The tour takes place in high altitude.
The excursions included in this tour are operated by the hotel and might not be exclusive to Hurtigruten guests.
