  • Visit a Patagonian estancia, or ranch, for insight into the gaucho lifestyle and culture

  • Visit the Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park

  • Explore Tierra del Fuego National Park and Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost town

  • Experience the spectacular natural extremes of Patagonia’s wild landscapes

Planned Itinerary:

Day 1: Buenos Aires to El Calafate

Your day begins with a transfer to the airport and a flight from Buenos Aires to El Calafate, where you’ll meet your local guide. After checking into your room, you’ll be taken to a Patagonian estancia for an authentic taste of gaucho life. As you walk around the working ranch, you’ll see a demonstration of the strength and skill needed for sheep shearing. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy local wine and a traditional meal before returning to El Calafate for the night.

Day 2: The glaciers of Patagonia

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Argentine landscape on today’s visit to Los Glaciares National Park. Watch for frequent weather changes across the Patagonian Steppe. You might encounter rain, or even snow! You’ll visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, part of the Patagonian continental ice field. It is one of the few remaining glaciers still moving forward. After dinner at the hotel, you’ll spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 3: Fly to Ushuaia

After breakfast, you’ll fly to Ushuaia, where a local guide will take you to your hotel. Depending on when you arrive, you may have time to enjoy an afternoon boat tour on the Bay of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel, with spectacular mountain views as a backdrop. You will have dinner at the hotel and the evening is at your leisure.

Day 4: Embark in Ushuaia

Enjoy a leisurely start this morning as we pick you up at noon for a tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park. Just under seven miles from Ushuaia, the protected area in this extraordinary landscape runs from the mountains to the sea. Your Pre-Program ends at the port of Ushuaia, where your expedition ship awaits.

Please note that the order of sites we visit may vary.
