Drive through the Sunnmøre Alps.
Visit an old boarding school surrounded by wild nature.
Learn more about the dramatic history of the Hjørundfjord.
We start from Sæbø and drive inland through the valley. We will pass by the local ski resort before lunch. Visit the Sunnmøre Alps at Standaleidet, where you can almost taste the fresh mountain air in wild and beautiful surroundings. A winding road then takes you down to the fjord. After a while, we will arrive at the old Stavset boarding school, the only one of its kind in Southern Norway. Risk of avalanches made it too dangerous for the children to walk to school, and sometimes they were blocked there for weeks. From Ytre-Standal, a boat will take you back to Sæbø.

Remarks/requirements: Dress according to local weather conditions with good footwear. It can be a chilly in the mountains, so a warm jacket is recommended in spring and fall.
Walking information: Approximately 550 to 770 yards of easy walking in total, including a 55 yard steep walk up and down to the school, and a 22 yard steep downhill walk to the boat.
