Planned itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in the Senegalese capital of Dakar
Your program begins in Dakar one day before embarkation. Check in to your hotel by the sea and the rest of the day is at your leisure. Relax and enjoy the amenities or join an optional, pre-bookable excursion.
Day 2: Visit Gorée Island
After breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel and take you to the ferry for your journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Gorée Island.
You’ll visit Gorée Museum and La Maison Des Esclaves, somber monuments to the island’s role in the transatlantic slave trade. Your guide will then tell fascinating stories as you stroll down baobab-shaded lanes and past colonial-era houses on the island. After lunch at a local restaurant, take the ferry back to the mainland. The tour ends at the port in Dakar, where your expedition ship awaits.
