Wonders of Iceland Exhibition
Glaciers and Ice Cave Exhibition
360° Observation Deck
The cutting edge Planetarium is the first one in exhibitions of “Wonders of Iceland”. The Exhibition is built inside one of Perlan´s hot water tanks.
The Aurora show is the first ever 8K northern lights planetarium show. It is a beautiful story about the northern lights, combining science and art, to create a unique experience. It’s a journey, through the unique landscape of Iceland, to observe Northern lights as you’ve never seen them.
Taking you across time and space, to understand the science behind the mystery, and the stories we believed for millenniums.
Continue exploring the exhibition and visitors will feel the power of volcanoes, earthquakes and geothermal energy and see a 10 m high realistically rendered bird cliff, rich with bird and plant specimens. They will experience oceanic wonders and watch as whales swim below their feet.
The Museum has developed a method to accurately replicate an ice cave dug through a glacier. Nothing like this has ever been seen anywhere in the world. Travelling through the cave and its museum, you will learn about the glacier’s dangers, the secrets it keep, and how the disappearance of the vast bodies of ice is leading, to enormous changes both on the island itself and around the world.
Perlan has a 360-degree viewing deck on the fourth floor. The viewing deck offers an awesome view of Reykjavik and the neighboring communities and the mountain ranges around the city, including the picturesque Mt. Esja. On clear days, you can even see the lofty Mt. Snaefellsjokull across the bay on Snaefellsnes peninsula.
