Enjoy a sightseeing drive along Route 8, which runs through the beautiful cultural landscape of Farsund municipality as well as a visit to Lista Lighthouse, offering panoramic views of the stunning coastal scenery.
  • Drive route 8 and experience all the “must see” checkpoints in the area.

  • Visit Lista Lighthouse for fantastic panorama view of the Lista peninsula and the sea.

  • Guided visit at Lista Lighthouse incl 30 mins. Introduction of the history of the lighthouse, the biodiversity in the area and the work of Lista Bird Observatory.

Route 8 covers approximately 43 kilometers (26 miles) and stretches from the Town Square in Farsund, through the Lista landscape and out to the beautiful Lista lighthouse with miles of sand dunes and pebble beaches. The Lista Lighthouse is a 34 meter tall stone tower which was lit for the first time on the 10th of November 1836. During the Second World War, a bunker system was built around the lighthouse to protect it from Allied Forces.  Follow the 134 steps to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy the fantastic view of the Lista peninsula and the sea.  Adjacent to the lighthouse is the lighthouse keeper’s residence, which is now used as an art gallery, and hosts concerts and other national and international happenings.

During your stay you will also have time to visit the Lista Bird Observatory, which was founded in 1990 and operates daily migration counts in the Lista Lighthouse area.  The Lista region has one of the highest populations of different birds. They travel from all over the world to feed in Lista during the autumn, before making their long journey to the southern part of Europe.  The observatory's purpose is to document development of bird populations by monitoring bird migration over time.  This observatory is a member-based organization associated with the Norwegian Ornithological Society (Birdlife International partner).
