Post-Program Puntarenas

Itinerary for your Post-Program

Day 1: Puntarenas/San José

After disembarkation at the pier in Puntarenas, we will take you to the Guacalillo Estuary where you will board a boat to explore the Tárcoles River. This is the richest mangrove forest on the Mid-Pacific coast. The four different species of tree create a lush habitat for over 250 different kinds of birds, including kingfishers, roseate spoonbills, anhingas and great herons. It is also the most important area in the country for the conservation of scarlet macaw, easily recognisable from their bright orange-red. We will also be able to observe the many wild crocodiles that line the riverbanks, one the largest colonies in the world. Some of them grow as long as 15 feet.

Day 2: San Jose/Departure

Breakfast at your hotel.

Practical information 

Included: 

Transfer from the pier in Puntarenas to San José, including a jungle boat tour and lunch, one hotel night with breakfast in San José.

 Not included: dinner and gratuities

Remarks/requirements: 

• Tour starts on day of disembarkation at Puntarenas.
• Available to guests with limited mobility on request
• If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the land adventure up to six weeks before departure.
