This trip lasts 4.5 hours and runs twice during the day to Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, and its surroundings.

Our first stop brings us to visit the Katchikally Crocodile Pool in Bakau. The pool has been there for the past 500 years and is considered to be a holy place that grants women fertility.

From here, we move onto visit Serrekunda, the largest town in the country. Upon arriving in Serrekunda, visit the tie-dye batik factory that was owned by a Gambian woman called Musu Kebba Drammeh, who worked there for over 30 years. Here, we can see a demonstration of batik production. We then give everyone an hour to look around and shop. Prices here are very reasonable and can be negotiated if you are buying multiple items.

Leaving Serrekunda, we then head toward the capital Banjul, where the guide explains the history of the surrounding area and the city. The first stop in Banjul is the National Museum. Your stop here lasts about 45 minutes. You can take in lots of information on the culture, traditions, customs, and history of the great capital.

A drive will take you to Arch 22, a symbol of the July 22 Revolution. The spectacular arch is 121 feet high. It offers daily activities and a view of the whole city. Further into the capital, we will stop at St. Albert’s Market, a daily market where vendors sell clothes, crafts, food, and other African souvenirs you can buy at very reasonable prices.
