Today, Norway is one of the world’s largest producers of oil – a legacy that began in the mid-1960s, when the discovery of oil changed the path of a nation. 

At the Norwegian Petroleum Museum in Stavanger, you will learn about how oil and gas were created millions of years ago, how petroleum is found, and how it is used. The museum also provides insight into technological developments in the petroleum sector and how this industry has affected Norwegian society.
