This is an excellent tour for beginners to get a feel for what sea kayaking is all about. We will start our tour from Snow Marine Park on the Rockland waterfront (near the public landing). From there, we will head out onto Rockland's historic harbor, one of Maine's largest working harbors and ports for bringing in the famous Maine lobsters. As we paddle by working lobster boats and tall-masted schooners, we will follow the shoreline toward Owl's Head, where we will look for seals, nesting ospreys, and seabirds. As we wind our way back to port, we will enjoy a grand view of the city, the famous Breakwater Lighthouse, and the beautiful Camden Hills State Park beyond Rockland.
