Departing from the ship, the zodiac will cross the Bay of Solano to a nature reserve, known as the Botanical Gardens. Landing on the beach, the guests will be welcomed with fresh coconut milk before a short boat ride through the mangroves to the tropical rain forest. The Botanical Garden is a reserve stretching 170 acres. It is dedicated to the protection and conservation of the local wildlife through education and recovery. One of the reserve’s most interesting projects is developing a seed bank and reforestation project. During the two-hour walk, guides will point out the amazing variety of flora and fauna, explain the reforestation project, and talk about the indigenous culture’s relationship with plant and animal life. You will see how trees can be used for communicating and fungus used as medicines. After two hours in the rainforest, the walk ends with a gentle stroll along the beach. Enjoy refreshments before re-boarding the RIB for the ride back to the ship.
