You'll begin at the pier, where your guide will lead you on a stroll through the streets of Ålesund. After a fire devastated the town in 1904, it was completely rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style, which is characterised by highly ornamental decoration. You’ll visit the picturesque fishing harbour of Brosundet and Apotekertorget Square where a bronze statue of a fisher boy stands proudly.
From the attractive shopping street, take a moment to stop at the gallery of talented local born artist, Helge Bjørnsen. Select one of his complimentary signed prints to take home with you.
The tour concludes at Jugendstilsenteret, the national Art Nouveau centre, housed in one of the finest Art Nouveau buildings in Norway. This eclectic collection of interiors, furniture and other Art-Nouveau inspired objects offers a fascinating insight into the history of this unique style of art.
