Visit the center of the city, Plateu and Ethnographical Museum, which was founded in 1997. Your visit to the Cape Verdean colourful life continues by visiting the Vegetable Market. A short walk takes you to Praça Alexandre Albuquerque square, an emblematic place of Santiago. In this square is located the also Municipal Palace built in 1920s with Portuguese Colonial Architecture. The Palace of the President and the viewpoint of “Statue of Diogo Gomes", who discovered the islands of Cape Verde in 1460, is just around the corner with great view to outside of the city. One of the oldest buildings in Praia is Jaime Mota Barracks (Quartel Jaime Mota) dating from 1826 which you will pass by as well.
The next part of the tour will take you to pass by the Prime Ministers house and various embassies. Breath-taking view you will have from the Monument Cruz de Papa just above the Quebra Canela Beach. Outside the colonial city centre is located, Avenida Cidade de Lisboa, the most modern street of Praia. Governal Palace and Football stadium is located in this street as well, not to mention National Library and statue of Amilcar Cabral before heading back to the port visit colourful “Sucupira market”.
