  • See the area where Karen Blixen worked on ‘Out of Africa.’

  • See the charming bright houses of Skagen.

  • Take in the beautiful heath scenery of the surroundings of Skagen.

This panoramic tour of Skagen and its’ surroundings will showcase the idyllic town of Skagen and lead you through the protected, and unique, landscape of the Northern tip of Jutland. You will be passing by Hulsig Heath, a landscape internationally protected for preservation, and one of the largest dune heaths in Europe. The tour will be heading for Raabjerg Mile, the largest migrating sand dune in Northern Europe. It has been crowned as one of the most beautiful areas of Denmark. This sand dune was formed on the West coast in the 16th century due to the large deforestation, which eventually led to the ‘Great Sand Drift’. We make a short photo stop at Raabjerg Mile sand dune, where you can take in the breath-taking views of the migrating dune. En route back to Skagen the tour will pass by ‘Kandestederne’ – a quaint little seaside community with hotels. In Kandestederne Karen Blixen (also known as Isaak Dinesen) worked on her famed novel ‘Out of Africa’. We continue through Old Skagen, passing fashionable seaside hotels and characteristic bright yellow houses continuing along the coastal road. The tour will conclude with a panoramic drive through Skagen town, down to the charming marina before ending at the cruise pier.
