See the "palafitos" which Castro is famous for
See Chonchi, the "three-story town"
Visit the interesting Museum of Traditions
Visit the city of Castro and its surroundings, one of the most interesting places on Chiloe Island. We leave the pier for a drive to Gamboa Bridge, located over the Gamboa River. Here you can appreciate the island’s typical "palafitos", which are wooden houses built on stilts above the water.
Next up, we drive to the church of Vilipulli – a national monument built in the 1700s and visited by Charles Darwin in 1853. Afterwards, we continue towards Chonchi, the “three-story-town”, with houses arranged in steps on the hillside.
Walk along the colourful wooden houses to visit the small, but interesting Museum of Traditions before driving back to Castro.
Back in the main town we visit San Francisco Church. The church was built in 1906 and we recommend a stroll around the main Plaza. Your final stop will be at the interesting and colourful handicraft market in Castro. After a short stop here, we continue with the drive back to the harbour. It is possible for the guests to stay longer and walk back to the pier on their own, as the market is located only a few meters from the harbour area.
