Historical highlights 

Your tour begins with a narrated scenic coach ride past the historic landmarks of Sitka, with photo opportunities along the way.  

Our first stop is Sitka National Historical Park, where you can walk along the totem-lined forest trail, learn about Alaska’s edible and medicinal plants from your local guide, or watch Alaskan artists at work in the carving room. Our next stop is the Sheldon Jackson Museum, which hosts the largest collection of native art and artifacts anywhere in the state of Alaska.   

Afterwards, you can wander through charming downtown Sitka or take a transfer back to the ship. 

Practical information

  • Remarks/requirements: Hard packed dirt at the Sitka Totem National Park may be difficult to traverse with a wheelchair. Local shopping is available after the tour. Restrooms are available at the park, Sheldon Jackson, and at Centennial Hall.  

  • Language: English 

  • Walking information: Involves moderate physical activity on relatively level surfaces and gentle terrain. Approx. 150 yards of walking on level gravel paths, though guests can walk up to a mile at the Sitka Totem Park if desired. 

  • Wheelchair accessible: Yes
