Day 1: Arrival in Quito
Welcome to Quito, the historic capital of Ecuador. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to explore the city.
Day 2: Quito to Mashpi Reserve
Today, we'll take you to the lush conservation area of Mashpi Reserve. This misty cloud forest is part of the Ecuadorian Chocó rainforest, one of the world’s greatest biodiversity hotspots. On the three-hour scenic journey, you’ll descend from 9,200 feet above sea level to 3,300 feet. On arrival at the Mashpi Lodge, you'll enjoy lunch, followed by a briefing on conservation in the Chocó rainforest and the incredible activities you can join while staying here. Your rainforest adventures begin with a guided walk through the flora and fauna along the dense jungle trails. In the evening, listen to fascinating lectures and find out more about the unique ecosystem here.
Day 3–4: Activities at Mashpi Reserve
Get ready for two days of adventure in the Ecuadorian rainforest. Before breakfast, as dawn breaks, enjoy some guided bird spotting to start the day. Your guide will then help you personalise the day's activity programme.
Explore the jungle trails, take an exhilarating waterfall shower, try a Sky Bike canopy tour, climb the Observation Tower, or glide through the trees on a Dragonfly canopy ride. In the evenings, you can choose to go for night walks, visit the Life Center, or relax in the lodge's wellness area.
Day 5: Return to Quito
Don't miss your last chance to see the rainforest’s extraordinary birdlife up close. Meet your guide at 6:30am for a stroll to see the feeding flocks - you could spot up to 20 different species in each one. After breakfast, there’s time for a short hike or other activity before we make the three-hour trip back to Quito.
We arrive back in Quito with enough time for you to visit some of the city’s highlights at your leisure. Tonight's overnight stay in your hotel marks the beginning of your expedition cruise.

This tour is available as a Pre-Programme in combination with your expedition cruise starting in Quito before travelling to Galapagos Islands.
Includes walking on uneven terrain. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
