Day 1: Arrival in Quito

Once you arrive in Quito, the historic capital of Ecuador, we'll transfer you from the airport to your hotel. Once you’ve checked-in, you'll have the rest of the day at your leisure to explore the city or rest up after your travels.

Day 2: Quito to Mashpi Reserve

Today we'll take you to the lush conservation area of Mashpi Reserve. This misty cloud forest is part of the Ecuadorian Chocó rainforest, one of the world’s great biodiversity hotspots. On arrival at the stylish Mashpi Lodge, you'll enjoy lunch, followed by a briefing about conservation in the Chocó forest, the activities you can join and other practical information. After, you’ll enjoy a guided walk through the flora and fauna along dense jungle trails. Every evening, you can enjoy fascinating lectures about the unique ecosystem here.

Day 3-4: Activities at Mashpi Reserve

Get ready for two days of adventure in the Ecuadorian rainforest. As dawn breaks, enjoy a guided birdspotting activity before breakfast. Your guide will help you personalise your day's activity programme. You can enjoy the many jungle trails, take an exhilarating waterfall shower, try a Sky Bike canopy tour, climb the Observation Tower or glide through the trees on a Dragonfly canopy ride. There are also opportunities for night walks, a visit to the Life Center, and relaxation in the lodge's wellness area.

Day 5: Return to Quito

Don't miss your last chance to watch the rainforest’s extraordinary birdlife up close. Meet your guide at 6.30am for a stroll to see the feeding flocks – you could spot up to 20 different species in each one. After breakfast, there’s time for a short hike or other activity before we make the 3-hour trip back to Quito around 11.30am. We arrive back in Quito, with enough time for you to visit some of Quito's highlights at your leisure.

Tonight's overnight stay in your hotel marks the beginning of your expedition cruise.

Remarks/requirements

This tour is available as a Pre-Programme in combination with your expedition cruise starting in Quito before travelling to Galapagos Islands.
Includes walking on uneven terrain. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Minimum number of participants: 2.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the trip up until 6 weeks before departure.
